July Reading

I spent July with family, working long hours, and reading, reading, reading. Along with these books, I also read two other Agatha Christie books, and Tomorrow Will Be Better, by Betty Smith.
Have you read anything good lately?

Snapshots

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

This week was filled with work, thunderstorms, Noah Gundersen, waking up early, going to the fair (just long enough to take some pictures) reading, and worrying because my camera lens is broken. Hopefully I can fix it quickly, because I might just go crazy without it.

The Civil Wars, Between The Bars

Mesmerizing to listen to and to watch. I love them so much.

Snapshots,

Smoothies. Granola. Cooking dinner. Granny Squares. Fearing that my computer really did die (it didn't!). Setting up at the fair. A walk in the rain. Working, working, working. Reading, reading, reading (This week I read A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, The Giver, Flipped, and started re-reading The Help).

Blog Evaluation

This week I've been reevaluating my blog - actually, I've been reevaluating for awhile. I really love blogging, but I'm trying to figure out how I want to continue and what I want to keep blogging about - do I want to have more weekly posts? What kind of new content do I want to include? My blog is turning into a blog of just pictures from my life, and as much as I love photography and sharing my pictures, I think I want my blog to be more than that. I finally caved and bought Elsie's Blog Love e-course, and that's been helping me think and make lists and consider different options. I would really love any feedback y'all might have - if I put together a survey of some sort, would you be willing to fill it out?

Scout

P.S. Is anyone else ready for autumn? Because I'm pretty sure I really am - it makes me want to buy school supplies - and receive a bouquet of sharpened pencils. For real about the school supplies, though.

A Time For Peace

Hey, y'all. Things around here have been so crazy lately. For about a month, we had a constant flow of people going through our house - church friends and neighbors coming over to swim, the whole extended family staying for the holiday, my brother and his wife making their summer visit, and my brother's friends coming over to visit him. Now, my house is not very big. It's your standard three bedroom house. We counted how many people were here on the most crowded day and got at least 50 people at my house all at once!
On Monday, the last of our company left, so I've been spending this week recuperating. I've been reading, crocheting, cooking, watching reruns of just about anything (hello, NCIS and Frasier!), sleeping in, and enjoying the peace and quiet. Don't get me wrong - I love people. However, people exhaust me, so right now I'm glad for the break.

What do y'all do to relax?

The Drive In

Over the weekend my family went to the drive-in to see The Amazing Spiderman and Snow White and the Huntsman. I knew Spiderman was going to be good, but it far exceeded my expectations. I loved that movie so much. I liked Snow White - even with Kristen Stewart (I actually thought she acted okay in this movie) - but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It looked like it was meant to be a scary action movie, but it wasn't. I thought it was well done and a good story, but it didn't seem to be what they intended it to be.

Summer Playlist Pt. 2

This is one of my favorite mixes of all time. I have a very similar CD that I put in almost every time I'm in the car  - my poor family. Anyway, I hope y'all like it!

Happy weekend!

Berry Picking

On the ride home from work today my mom told me how she had found a ton of raspberry bushes on the side of the road by our house. We went home, changed clothes, and went right back out to pick them.

This view definitely kept thinking about made me think of Red Riding Hood - I half expected a wolf to come out to get me. This thought led me to...

I also felt very hippie-like, out on the side of the road picking berries. This led me to...

This is what happens when I find a spider in my berry bucket.

Spooky, right?

What's your favorite summer fruit? Raspberries are mine, but we rarely get them at my house.

Totes The Best Hun-Cal Froyo

My brother and his wife are visiting! We spent the first week of July with my whole paternal extended family - which was crazy and awesome. This week it's just the immediate family spending time together and hanging out - shopping, eating, waching Eureka, and laughing. Today we went to Sweet Frog for frozen yogurt. I've never had frozen yogurt before (I was told that frozen Go-Gurts didn't count), and it was so good! It was definitely a great evening out.

This week my extended family visited for the holiday - we had about forty people staying at my house and camping outside. It's been a hectic week, but overall, a good one.
