I heard this song ages ago on a commercial (for Kohl's, maybe?). It's the perfect summer song, and I've loved it for years, and now I'm sharing it with you! The live version is pretty entertaining, as well.

Artist Spotlight: Don McLean
I've always loved McLean's American Pie, but it wasn't until I got the American Pie vinyl a couple weeks ago that I really listened to him. I feel like he's one of those one hit wonder artists - he has so much great music, but no one ever talks about him unless they're talking about American Pie. His style is folky, sometimes mixed with old style rock (like Buddy Holly type rock), and a lot of his songs have a sort of mournful tone to them. Anyway, here are some of his songs that I really like.
This is quite possibly my favorite.
This one just makes me laugh.
Now, if you haven't heard his song American Pie...well, shame on you. You need to listen to it right now. There's so much musical history in this song, not to mention it's simply amazing. Anyway, it starts off with Buddy Holly's death in February, 1953. Y'all should really look it up. He even dedicated the American Pie album to Buddy Holly!

Age of Worry
I never used to like John Mayer. I never wanted to like John Mayer. Then one of my friends made me listen to him, and I have since been converted. I'm still not sure how I feel about that, but...in the meantime, I'm just going to listen to this song.

I went to a life celebration for my aunt's step-dad who died last month. They wrote notes to him on balloons and let them go.
I also got to hang out with my cousins in D.C.
While I was in the area, I also got to go to a jazz concert. I saw this guy - he and his band were pretty stellar! Plus, I love watching musicians. I love seeing the looks on their faces.
My mom said I should get a picture of the dove in her nest (can you see her?), so I was trying to see if I could find a good angle.
This is the picture I accidentally took when the dove flew away and scared me half to death.

Hershey Park on Disposable Film
Last weekend I went to Hershey Park! It was so much fun. We started out the day by locking ourselves out of the house and then having to break back in so we could find the car keys - which we didn't find, so we waited for an hour until we could get the spare. When we finally got there, it ended up raining for most of the day - making the roller coasters so much more fun! On the way to the park we picked up some disposable cameras so we could capture some of the moments.

One of the guys we were with stole my camera and was taking a picture of me - I had no idea my friend was going to kiss me, so it made for a great reaction :)

Some kids were playing Ninja while we waited in line. I'm pretty sure they were cheating, though.
Did y'all know there's a zoo in Hershey Park? It was pretty great - unfortunately none of the pictures came out because it was so dark. I took this one in the gift shop - who knew dots could be so expensive?
You know what? It was really great to take pictures and not worry about the quality at all - to be taking pictures purely to capture the moment and not care at all that some of the pictures might suck. Maybe using more disposable cameras would help my rut.
