Hey, guys. I just wanted to make a quick note about my shop. This month I'm donating half of the money I receive to an anti trafficking fund. I'd really appreciate it if you'd help me out. If you're interested, click here. Remember, there's only four days left! I'll also be adding new items tomorrow, so lots of sewing tonight!
Getting mail is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Even though most of the stuff I get is stuff I ordered for myself. Anyway. Look at the goodies I got today!
I'm adding three new clutches to my shop tonight. If I can find my white thread, then I'll have another to add tomorrow. I was using that thread last night, within a four foot circle. I cannot find it anywhere! I'm going to blame my cat.
I added new items to my shop! I'm really excited about them all, especially the felt clutches. I absolutely love making them. I'll be continuing to add more products all this month - particularly felt clutches (contact me via my shop if you have a design idea or special order) and crochet purses. Stop by my shop and check them out!
Hey guys, I'm super excited to announce that I've been featured on Etsy! Woohoo! I don't know that this is something particularly special, but....I'm so excited :)
Hello, everyone! I've been working hard all week on things for my shop, Hooks & Reels. I'm especially excited after my wonderful mother bought a bunch of supplies for me the other day. Of course, there are prints of my photography and my crochet clutches, but I am hoping to add crochet purses/shoulder bags, hand sewn felt clutches, and hair accessories, come March.
And remember, I will be donating half of the money I receive in March to an anti-trafficking fund!
There hasn't been much happening concerning my Etsy shop, Hooks and Reels, but I have big plans for March! I'm working on new designs and products so I can load up my shop. Then, in March, I'm going to donate half of the money I receive to an anti-trafficking fund! I'm pretty excited about the idea.
Here are a couple behind the scenes photos from yesterday's shoot.
I'm also working on a new bag pattern. This one is unfinished because I ran out of the right color of yarn.
I think the modeling is my favorite part, whether I'm modeling or photographing someone else.
Check it out! I put up some new items in the shop today, and I'll be putting more up later this weekend. Use the code YOUVEGOTMAIL152 for a 25% discount - limited time only!
I'm also thinking of selling some photographs in my shop - what do you think?
First, as of tomorrow, I will have accomplished two of my new years resolutions- opening up an online shop and selling my photographs. I've been spending this month printing, framing, painting, clipping, crocheting, organizing, photographing, and making labels, price tags, and business cards. My shop opened one week ago (it feels like ages!) and I’m setting up my photos tomorrow in a local coffee shop. It’s going to be such a relief to be done! I can’t wait to rest for a couple days (hopefully reading Catching Fire) before starting a new project.
Second, I received terrible news today. I mentioned before that my laptop was very ill. It turns out her hard drive has kicked the bucket - bought the farm, if you will. I was given the very sad news today that I might lose everything. I was definitely bummed about this and, when I realized that "everything" included my music, I cried. I really like my music. Anyway, the guy is going to fix my computer and try to save some stuff. Hopefully he can save everything. Especially the music. (Also, talking about saving the music makes me think of one of those corny 80s movies, like Footloose or something).
And speaking of 80s movies, can anyone guess what came for me in the mail today? Anyone? Anyone?
Love, Scout
P.S. If you’re in the Chambersburg area, stop by C&C coffee in February to see my photos!
P.P.S. Shame on you if you didn't know the answer.
My Etsy shop is finally open, guys! It's called Hooks and Reels - as in crochet hooks and film reels. Thanks to my friend Andrea for the sweet name! Please head over there and check it out. I'm so excited that it's finally happening! You already know I've been thinking about it for a while. I meant to open it this past summer...Anyway, it's finally here! I also added a sidebar button to the right.
Here are a few shots of what I've put online so far.
A while back I said something about maybe starting an Etsy shop in the near future. Well, the near future came and went and I never said anything else on the subject.
Until now. I'm finally working on my Etsy shop! Actually working on it, not just thinking about it. I'm spending this week making my shop, making banners and buttons to help promote it, crocheting, doing mini photoshoots, and finishing the details on all of my products. Here's a taste.
Note the flower pin.
Tip: Cats are good at holding up mini photoshoot backgrounds.
So I've been thinking for a while that I want to open an Etsy shop. If you are unfamiliar with Etsy, it is an online community of stores that sell vintage or handmade items. I like to crochet, so I'm thinking of selling some handmade items.
Here is a sample of some things I've made:
Some flower pins. These are my favorite to make - I pretty much make each one up, so they're all at least slightly different. They are also quick and easy which makes me feel like I've accomplished something. They're so fun!
This one is my favorite. It's tiny and I love the combination of teal and gold. Actually, I'm really loving gold anything lately.
I like this one because it has a more natural feel to it. I think this one just seems comfortable. I have this image of lounging on a couch in one of those ginourmous sweaters like from the 1990s...but that might not be the best advertising.
Anyway...
This one looks a little bit classier. The purple is kind of pearly and the buttons are polished looking.
Not all of them have a square flap. A lot of the ones I make are more pointed, like most envelopes. I just didn't have many pointy ones made. I like the square ones best, with two buttons, so I've been making more of those.
