About Me

Hello! I'm Scout. I'm a 20 something that loves music, pretty pictures, photography, and creating. This blog is dedicated to all of those things.

Why I started my blog

I started this blog during a rough patch in my life as a way to hold on to something beautiful when everything around felt grey and miserable. It was my way of making myself work on something fun in order to not lose myself in the drudgery of...well, everything else that was going on at the time.

I kept it up because I have a bad habit of giving up on things half way through. I didn't want to do that with this. I knew if I was going to start blogging, it was going to be something I needed to continue to do, if only to make myself work at something.
Let me tell you, I debated about it for a long time. I wasn't sure I wanted the label of being someone who blogs. Even now, I still think it sounds kind of corny. But I love it. I love that I can post on here and share things that brighten my day and hopefully brighten yours, as well.
Even though there are times I really don't want to post anything, or I only want to post complaints, I really think this has been a marvelous experience for me. It's taught me to not give up so easily, to push through when I don't feel like it, and to not focus on the miserable gloomy things.

What You Might Find
Photography
Some of my favorite posts are my Snapshots posts - these include pictures of my life throughout each week, many of them feature my cat, Cricket.

Music
I love music, so I try to share a lot of it on my blog. These could be random playlists, or it could be an Artist Spotlight post, where I talk about a specific musician. Some of my favorites include Sleeping at LastFunThe Shins, Deas Vail, and Ray LaMontagne, but the most popular one by far is Chester See. There are so many, though, so I highly recommend you check them out!

Tutorials
Sometimes I share an occasional DIY. Three of the most exciting ones include lacy scalloped shorts, making a dinosaur necklace, and cutting wine bottles into drinking glasses - using fire!

I hope you like what you find! Feel free to comment - I read and respond to all of them! Or, if you'd like, email me at cardigansandoldwatches@gmail.com. I love to hear from my readers :)

Love,
Scout
