A Happier Valentine's Post - With Music!

My family sent me a Valentine's Day package! My daddy always gets gifts for the girls in the family, even when we are away :)

 The package!

A view of the inside. I named the dog Guggenheim.

A card from my wonderful daddy :)

 Chocolate, of course.

You see that? It's coconut! I always eat these out of boxes of assorted chocolates.

Buttons, assorted by style and color (I love buttons!)

 Pretty yarn.

There were also many other miscellaneous doo-dads in there, like comics from my sister (Mailey Bae - I did love the Pearls Before Swine one!).
Thanks, you guys! I love you so much!

 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

In other news, I put together a huge playlist of love songs, cause that's how I roll, but then I decided I'd make a significantly smaller playlist with just my favorite love songs. There's a good chance the other playlist will end up on here sometime.

Picture, Playlist, and Update

Yeah, I know. I never post on here, and I don't really plan to, either. I've been crazy busy working all the time - and watching Twin Peaks when I finally have time off :)  But I have an amazing playlist to share, and an update. And a picture, because, well, this is me we're talking about. First, the picture:

Make that two pictures. The first is me and my true love. The second is me and my sister on my 22nd birthday. We're both having an amazing time. Trust me.
Next: The Perfect Playlist.

It's incredible, right? You're welcome.
Now, the update: I've realized I like writing poetry, so if you're interested in seeing what I write, I will be sharing it over here: My New Tumblr. I also have a tumblr for Things I Like. The second is less edited and more of a place for me to save things. But whatever.

Love,
Scout

....actually...that was kind of fun. Maybe once I get my life back (hopefully soon) I'll start posting again. We'll see.

Here's to You, Mrs. Robinson

I started making a 60s playlist, but some 70s got thrown in there, as well. I'm kind of in love with this music lately. I hope you like it, too :)

Peace!

Summer Playlist

I started making this playlist ages ago, and I meant to share it with y'all on the first day of summer. That didn't happen, obviously. Even so, I hope you enjoy it now!

Summer Breeze Playlist

Today is absolutely glorious. It's sunny and breezy and just perfect. In honor of this fantastic day, I've put together what I hope to be a breezy feeling playlist. You'll understand when you listen to it.

Other miscellaneous thoughts in my head:
  • I think The Beach Boys are the perfect summer band.
  • I would really like to own some Cat Stevens and Cyndi Lauper music.
  • I ordered some books by/about Bob Dylan online. I cannot wait for them to arrive! I don't think they'll come until next week and I hate waiting.
  • I downloaded an audio version of The Help. I'm very excited to listen to it, but that sucker is about 18 hours long! Do you like audio books? One of my favorites was Tarzan. The Series of Unfortunate Events was also really great to listen to. Which audio books do you like?
Peace out!

A Stolen Playlist

I found this playlist on Oh, So Lovely Vintage and decided to steal it for my own blog! I made some adjustments - changed a couple versions and added one or two extras. I hope you like it!

So This Is Love - Playlist

I love duets and harmonies, especially cute love songs sung by cute couples. So here's a playlist I made with some of my favorite couple duets.

A Few Lovely Things

Here are some things to make your day just a little bit better:

A beautiful photograph by Ting Hay:

A playlist.
(Note: the first song does contain curse words. Be warned).

A poem:
Rain Cuts the Place we Tread
by Dylan Thomas

Rain cuts the place we tread,
A sparkling fountain for us
With no fountain boy but me
To balance on my palms
The water from a street of clouds.
We sail a boat upon the path,
Paddle with leaves
Down an ecstatic line of light,
Watching, not too aware
To make our senses take too much,
The unrolled waves
So starred with gravel,
The living vessels of the garden
Drifting in easy time;
And, as we watch, the rainbow's foot
Stamps on the ground
A legendary horse with hoof and feather,
Impatient to be off.
He goes across the sky,
But, when he's out of sight,
The mark his flying tail has left
Branckes a million shades,
A gay parabola
Above a boat of leaves and weeds.
We try to steer;
The stream's fantastically hard,
Too stiff to churn with leaves,
A sedge of broken stalks and shells.
This is a drain of iron plants,
For when we touch a glower with our oar
We strike but do not stir it.
Our boat is made to rise
By waves which grow again
Their own melodious height,
Into the rainbow's shy embrace.
We shiver uncomplainingly,
And taste upon out lips, this minute,
The emerald kiss,
And breath on breath of indigo.

Good Times Mix 2

Way back when, I shared a playlist that I made for a CD Swap hosted by Where The Lovely Things Are. Today I'm finally going to share the playlist I received. The only song that's missing is Caravan by Van Morrison because it wasn't on Grooveshark.
Enjoy!

Peace out,
Scout

Check out last year's Valentine's playlist here. Boy, do I feel lame reading that post, but the music is great.

You Like Some...Music?

I think most of this is from the 50s ish, except for a couple songs I wanted in there just because. For example, Strange Magic. I just love that song :)
Happy Listening!

It's Not Your Birthday!

Actually, it is. Well, it's my mom's birthday. Hi, Mom! Happy birthday!
This is her:

She's beautiful, but she doesn't think so.
She's super nice to people.
She doesn't always say what she means :)
Sometimes she cooks dinner. Not often enough, in my opinion, but when she does it's always good.
This is a song I know she likes:

These are some songs that I think she likes:

As part of your birthday present, Mom, I'm not going to post that really funny quote you said the other day, about that girl's hat :) Just cause I love you.

Anyway, I really do love you, Mom. You've taught me a lot about how to treat people and about what music I should listen to, like the Beatles. Thanks for everything, and happy birthday!

Love,
me

Today I found some letters that my younger cousin had sent me before. I had forgotten about them, so it was a wonderful surprise to read them again :)

5. Getting flowers.
(And wearing flowers in my hair).

6. This somewhat contradictory definition of the word "moot", found in Webster's New World Dictionary, Fourth Edition, copyright 2003.

I'll Stop the World (and melt with you)

I owe you a decent post, I know. I have several things in mind, just no time yet to work on them. For now, how about some 80s music?

Elton John

I have been trying all night to figure out what I want to listen to, and I've finally got it: Elton John. Heck yes.

Goodbye, yellow brick road!
