If...

I stole this idea from Rachael Caringella from her blog.

·         If I were a season, I would be Spring
If I were a month, I would be October
If I were a day of the week, I would be Tuesday
If I were a time of day, I would be twilight
If I were a planet, I would be Pluto
If I were a tree, I would be  a weeping willow

If I were a land animal, I would be a cat
If I were a sea animal, I would be terrified
If I were a bird, I would be a chickadee
If I were a piece of furniture, I would be a hammock
[Source]
If I were a liquid, I would be raspberry lemonade
If I were a stone, I would be yellow jade or turquoise
If I were a tool, I would be a pencil
If I were a kind of weather, I would be rainy – grey skies, thunder, lightning, misty or hard rain.
[I don't remember the source :( ]
If I were a musical instrument, I would be a viola
If I were a color, I would be yellow
[Source]
If I were a facial expression, I would be a wrinkled nose

If I were an emotion, I would be whimsical
If I were a sound, I would be rain

If I were an element, I would be fire
If I were a flavor, I would be something homemade
If I were a scent, I would be laundry soap
If I were an object, I would be a film camera

If I were a body part, I would be arms (for hugs, you know)
If I were a song, I would be This Place is Painted Red or Just a Little Girl
If I were a pair of shoes, I would be brown flats
If I were transportation, I would be wings

If I were a fairy tale, I would be Cinderella
If I were a holiday, I would be Thanksgiving
If I were a superhero, I would be...I don't know
If I were a shape, I would be a heart
If I were a state, I would be the state of confusion
If I were a cartoon, I would be Dee Dee
If I were a car, I would be a VW van
[I don't remember the source :( ]
If I were a food, I would be a sweet potato
If I were a place, I would be a secret garden
If I were an accessory, I would be  a messenger bag
If I were an insect, I would be a lady bug

If I were a  plant, I would be a fern
If I were a flower, I would be a daisy
If I were a fruit, I would be a raspberry
If I were a direction, I would be away
If I were another person, I would be..

What would you be?

San Diego: California Dreamin'

I am leaving for San Diego in six days. I am spending my spring break working at City of Refuge. I’m not entirely sure what we are going to be doing for them, but I’m totally stoked.
City of Refuge does inner city mission work with the homeless (and others). One night while we are there we are going to take coffee and snacks and hang out with people on the street. I think I’m most excited for that night. I cannot wait to hear people’s stories!
Anyway, I thought I’d share some of what I'm thinking about my trip.
Excitements:
  • ·         Travelling
  • ·         Flying! I haven’t been on an airplane since I was 12.
  • ·         Being in a new place
  • ·         More specifically: Being in California! It will be my first time on the West coast.
  • ·         Meeting new people – especially ones whose stories and backgrounds aren’t so similar to my own.
  • ·         New experiences.
  • ·         Chilling with homeless people
  • ·         Being the church, rather than sitting through it.
Fears:
  • ·         Not going home for spring break
  • ·         Getting home sick – I usually get homesick the first night I’m away somewhere. I hope it’s not worse because I gave up going home for spring break.
  • ·         Messing up somehow
  • ·         That my nerves and fears will keep me from doing my best – working my hardest and being able to talk to new people.
Prayer requests:
  • ·         That my team will get along well
  • ·         That we will all be flexible to changes
  • ·        That we will be open to others and not judgmental
  • ·         That I won’t be hindered by my fears
  • ·         That I won’t be judgmental of my team or the people we meet
  • ·         Safety

Thanks,
Scout

Gorgeous!

Check out this incredible photos by Will Vastine. I absolutely love his work! I'm totally jealous. Also very inspired. I probably steal a lot of my ideas from him.

Can you say, "amazing!!"?
Peace!

Friday Love

One of these days I'm going to post this on a Friday. Promise.

1. Banjos

2. Hugs

3. Swinging.

This is how it's done!

4. Coffee. I've been quite addicted to it lately.

5. Peanut M&Ms. They are my favorite candy - always have been, always will.
I drew these!

I usually try to eat my M&Ms by their color - I think it's usually the one with the most that goes first.

6. Being listened to [being heard].

7. Balloons.

[I think this is from here]

8. Mint and chocolate. Mint hot chocolate, mint ice cream, Peppermint Patties, mint cookies...

9. Word games. Boggle, Scrabble, Text Twist, Catch Phrase, Bananagrams, ...
[Source]
I found 44 words in three minutes, but that's probably because I was nervous (I knew I was going to post my result on here) and forgot that I don't usually use three letter words. Not counting 3 letter words, I found 28 words and got 39 points. *This* is a timer you can use :)

Well? How many did you get?

Love,
Scout

P.S. The more I look at the picture of that boggle board thing, the more I hate myself. I missed so much! I can't believe I did so terribly! Badges, bangles, slither...

I Hate Spiders

I was sitting on my bed, working diligently on a paper and minding my own business, when suddenly I was attacked! A spider came out of nowhere and started running at me! I freaked out, of course, and made my roommate give me a tissue. I half squished it, before freaking out again and tossing the tissue off my bed. Needless to say, I don't know if I actually killed the thing or not. I'm not going to open the tissue to find out, either, in case he's in there and waiting to attack again.
I sprayed the tissue with Raid, though, just in case.

Anyway, this event has reminded me just how much I miss my daddy. When I'm at home, he kills spiders for me, and other creepy crawlies.
Now I'm stuck in a room with a spider - dead, alive, or zombie, I'm not sure. I hope his relatives don't find out and seek revenge.

Here is a funny clip of Gilmore Girls that pretty accurately demonstrates how I am with spiders (if you didn't get that image from the above story): click me!

Here is a song about spiders:

And here is a Led Zeppelin song, because they were (or maybe still are) my daddy's favorite band:

Artist Spotlight: The Civil Wars

Meet Joy Williams and John Paul White.
Their style is simple, including beautiful harmonies and some guitar. Williams' voice is strong and passionate, while White's somewhat raspy tone contributes a softer but equally passionate voice to the mix. Their songs range from cute to raw, showing the lighter and darker sides of love. The duo (each married, but not to each other) originates from Nashville and draws their sound from folky southern roots, with a tiny bit of pop thrown in.
